Actually the school year 2020/2021 started in Janaury 2021. Due to Covid19 schools were closed from March - September 2020 and all timetables were delayed.
The new academic calendar for the school year 2020/2021 follows this schedule:
Brown, Jane, Floncy and Felix did their Secondary School exams in January 2021 and they are all passed, while the average passing rate in Malawi was only 40%. First due to Covid19 the exams were delayed from June 2020 to November 2020. In November the exams started, but half way they were suddenly cancelled, because some exams were leaked. Therefore the Form 4 exams to finish the Secondary School year 2019/2020 were rescheduled to January 2021.
Robert, Catherine, Gift and Cliff all passed Secondary School in 2019. Gift has been selected for the Polytechnic University and will go there with a government bursary we requested for him. Robert and Cliff applied for college and are waiting for the selection.
The selection for a university or college takes a few months in Malawi and once the selection is done we will try as much as we can to find a scholarship for them to continue education at tertiary level. Because of the selection process students always have a gap year between secondary and tertiary school.
